German animal welfare-oriented guidelines for conservation grazing now available in English
We would like to share the animal welfare-oriented guidelines developed by Bunde Wischen and partners for conservation grazing systems.
The guidelines focus on practical animal welfare considerations in extensive and conservation-oriented grazing systems and address topics such as:
-
responsibility and daily management
-
health monitoring
-
grazing conditions
-
infrastructure and handling
-
weather and environmental conditions
-
transport and emergency situations
An English version of the German guidelines has recently been published and may also be useful for practitioners, organisations, and projects working in different European contexts.

We would be very interested to hear:
-
How is animal welfare approached in extensive grazing systems in your region or country?
-
Which challenges do you face regarding animal welfare in conservation grazing contexts?
-
Are there comparable guidelines, standards, or approaches in your organisation or country?
-
Which topics do you think deserve more attention in discussions around conservation grazing and animal welfare?
Feedback, experiences, and additional resources are very welcome.
